It's a new year and I'm changing the world...again

What is it with us women? We see the New Year in with 287 different resolutions and wonder why we fail? It's just another example of the ridiculous expectations we place on ourselves.

The typical female NY resolution list:

1. Lose half a stone (with me it's always half a stone, I've been trying to lose it every year since 1992).

2. Go to the gym at least twice a week and ban the celebratory attendance muffin.

3. Stop being such a sloth - sack off the tracksuit bottoms, wear make up every day and wash hair more than once a week.

4. Start shaving legs again.

5. Be a better mum, be more patient and stop threatening the children with the end of the biscuit barrel.

6. Be a better friend - stop relying on text and pretending not to be in when the phone rings

7. Be a better lover - reinstate date night, plus see numbers 3 and 4.

It's like top-to-bottom makeover: out with the old Me and in with a whole new one. Appearance, personality, the whole caboodle.

A typical man's New Year list:

1. Take guitar lessons.

***********************************

So come on ladies, small steps! I'm sure you only need a modicum of tweaking, not a full body lift with forehead-to-toe botox.

Maybe I'll even lose that half a stone this year.

Rock on 2012!

I've set a few goals like walking when my mom calls. You wouldn't believe how much walking you can do just going back and for through the house, especially with the Marathon talk session I usually have with my mother. I'm a writer so my next thing is getting my series finished, polish and submitted to a publisher.

@Kirsten: Blokes are such simple creatures. We really should take a leaf out of their books sometimes. x

@MrsTeePot: Neither have I. Hoorah! The whole thing bores me to tears and is only designed to make you feel like a loser unless it is simply done to simply do more exciting things. M2M
